Black Panther has now surpassed The Dark Knight in top domestic grossing films of all time with jaw-dropping $562 million in a cumulative box office, Forbes reports.

The meteoric MCU film is just under two Star Wars films: The Last Jedi ($572 million) and The Force Awakens ($812 million).

Black Panther now holds the spot of the second highest-earning superhero movie, surpassed only by The Avengers ($623 million) and when the effects of inflation are accounted for, the film ranks a bit below the 1989 BatmanSpider-ManThe Dark Knight, and The Avengers, in that order.

Great news for fans: the film continues its successful turn at the box office. Globally, the film has smashed through records in China, achieving a $66.5 million debut weekend, with $7.4m of that total being earned via IMAX. Black Panther has earned over $516m alone o the other side of the world, which totals a cumulative $1.078 billion across the planet.
