The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a unique place right now, with film release dates being postponed left and right due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. One of the films that has been delayed in filming is the Black Panther sequel Black Widow. Now, fans can finally be excited as Black Widow has filming date in sight. With the unexpected death of Chadwick Boseman, it was unsure when the sequel would begin filming without him.
According to Comic Book, it has been previously confirmed that late actor Chadwick Boseman won’t be replaced as T’Challa. For the sequel, Marvel Studios is exploring new potential terms in its talent contracts, and the trade notes that the sequel could begin filming by next summer, in June of 2021, as well as with new deals in place for the talent. Due to the current world climate, the film could possibly premiere on Disney+ instead of in theaters.
The original Black Panther movie was a huge hit, due to breaking ground with Black talent both in front and behind the camera, and received six Oscar nominations and won three. With a reported filming date for next summer, this makes sense due to the fact that Marvel Studios still intends on releasing Black Widow in the following summer in July of 2022.
