Marvel’s Black Panther continues to make impressive and record-breaking strides in the film industry! In an amount surpassed by only one film ever (The Force Awakens), the movie has achieved a $241.96 million dollar domestic four-day beginning weekend! This was supplanted from high individual earnings on its first four days, with its Sunday gross also being the second highest-recorded earning ever on that day, topping at $60.096 million dollars. It also narrowly achieved the record for the highest-grossing domestic Monday at $40.11 million dollars! All in all, it looks like Black Panther has earned amazing reception domestically with a huge box office take.

Black Panther’s domestic box office scores are climbing even higher! Currently, it’s estimated to earn about $201 million domestically in its first three days. It’s believed to earn even more so on its first four days, peaking at $240 million, a four-day record only second to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Black Panther continues to thrive across theaters! Statistics confirm that it is becoming a king of the Marvel film juggernaut, opening with the company’s second highest box office draw since 2012’s The Avengers, dethroning sequel Age of Ultron from that very spot. Even more impressively, it ranks in the top five openings ever! Right now, estimates believe that the movie will earn $195.3 million domestically in its first three days, climbing on to an even higher box office take of $225 million for its first four days.

The new king of Wakanda looks to fight for the crown of best opening weekend for a Marvel film as it looks to earn over $200 million for the four day weekend, according to multiple sources. The Avengers currently holds the top spot for opening weekend sales with $207 million. Black Panther has already solidified its spot in the rankings with the second highest preview gross in Marvel’s history, making around $25.2 million on Thursday.
The four day weekend is definitely fueling the high number for Black Panther, but even its 3-day weekend numbers are extremely impressive. The $175 million 3-day weekend predictions will make it the 7th highest grossing opening weekend of all time if correct, just behind Captain America: Civil War at $179 million.
Black Panther focuses on the story of T’Challa, the prince and now new king of Wakanda, a well-hidden and technologically advanced African nation, after the death of his father during the events of Captain America: Civil War. Trouble brews as the new king receives opposition from another of the nation, who brings an army and to try and take the throne.
The film stars a significantly strong cast including the talented Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther and his supporters Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Dunai Gurira, Winston Duke, and Sterling K. Brown. The film has received a large amount of support from black icons across multiple platforms, including tennis star Serena Williams, for its powerful representation of black characters in film. Black Panther is currently in theaters and is a definite must-watch superhero film for Marvel buffs and casual moviegoers alike.
