‘Black Adam’ Wraps Up Production and Dwayne Johnson Reacts

Dwayne Johnson, set to play the titular villain in DC’s upcoming movie Black Adam, took to Twitter and Instagram as production wrapped up to reflect on his time working onset. The actor broke the news on social media with a long caption, saying, “I knew many years ago, the opportunity for me to make BLACK ADAM would be a ONCE IN A CAREER EVENT. It has been my true honor to go shoulder to shoulder with over 1,000 brilliant and hungry crew of filmmakers and storytellers to bring the antihero known as, BLACK ADAM to life.”

Johnson also writers, “The heirarchy of power in DC Universe is changing,” hinting at some major happenings in this upcoming film that may impact other DC heroes.

As Variety covers, Black Adam is spinoff from the 2019 film Shazam! and portrays Johnson as the villain. The movie will also star Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan.

Black Adam had originally been set to premiere in time for the 2021 holiday season. The pandemic caused filming to be pushed back, delaying the December 22, 2021 release date by seven months.

Jaume Collet-Serra directed the 11th installment of the DC Extended Universe. Some credits that belong to him include House of Wax, Orphan, and The Shallows. He also directed Disney’s Jungle Cruise, which again stars Johnson and will be out at the end of July.

DC fans, stay tuned for this villainous film out next summer!
