‘Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk’ to Premiere at New York Film Festival

Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk will have it’s world premiere at the New York Film Festival next month.

The feature follows Iraq War hero, Billy Lynn (Joe Alwyn) as he begins a victory tour with fellow soldiers. The theatrical release is scheduled for Veterans Day weekend, but NYFF goers are lucky enough to get a preview of the compelling film before the rest of us.

Ang Lee is always successful in creating extraordinarily moving characters (examining the emotional and social complexity of closeted homosexual relationships in Brokeback Mountain, or exploring self actualization and interpersonal development through disaster in Life of Pi), and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk appears to deliver yet another inspiring exploration of the individual self.

Chris Tucker, Vin Diesel, Kristen Stewart and Steve Martin – an acclaimed and sincere cast for Lee to utilize – serve as the supporting cast to Alwyn in his introductory role. But, what makes Billy Lynn so special is that the film is the first to be shot in 4K and 3D at 120 frames per second, allowing Lee to take full advantage of capturing every convincing emotion possible.

New York Film Festival Director Kent Jones has already shared his excitement for Lee’s film in an official statement:

“Ang Lee has always gone deep into the nuances of the emotions between his characters, and that’s exactly what drove him to push cinema technology to new levels…It’s all about the faces, the smallest emotional shifts. In every way, ‘Billy Lynn’ is the work of a master.”

The 54^th annual New York Film Festival begins September 30^th and runs until October 16^th, 2016.
