Rampage was a series of arcade games that made its debut in 1986 and allowed players to decimate entire cities while battling the military as various enlarged animals. The series was fun and spawned five sequels over the years and now a big screen adaptation is on the way! Director Brad Peyton (San Andreas) and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (The Fate of the Furious) are teaming up again to bring the carnage of the monsters to the city of Chicago.
The story is a bit different from the series as an otherworldly genetic experiment has found its way to Earth to mutate animals into an enormous size and cause their behavior to go berserk. The supporting cast includes Naomie Harris (Spectre), Malin Akerman (Watchmen), Joe Manganiello (Justice League), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (AMC’s The Walking Dead), and P.J. Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street).
In 2009, Warner Bros acquired the film rights as part of their acquisition of Midway Games for $33 Million and the project was first announced in 2011. After some time, the film is finally being released on April 20, 2018. Director Brad Peyton has said that the film will be, “a lot more emotional, a lot scarier and a lot more real than you’d expect.”
We see what happens as the release date quickly approaches. See the rampage below in the epic first trailer!
