It’s surely looking like everyone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be playing a role in currently filming Avengers: Infinity War. News is starting to break left and right and today (courtesy of MCU Exchange) came word that Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro will be part of the show, reprising his role of The Collector, the holder of the “reality gem.” Del Toro, will briefly, has been featured in two Marvel Cinematic Universe movies previously – the tag of Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy.
The scoop broke via Josh Brolin, who is playing the Thanos, the film’s Big Bad and focus of Avengers: Infinity War as confirmed recently by MCU keeper Kevin Feige. In since deleted Instagram livestream, Brolin let it out of the bag that he was shooting scenes with Del Toro as well as Guardians alums Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana. It remains to be seen, however, in what capacity Del Toro will be participating the film, particularly as the cast list continues to expand. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing the title from a screenplay penned by Marvel vets Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus. The Russos previously directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War.
Thus far, the announced cast for Avengers: Infinity War consists of Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Pratt (Peter Quill), Scarlet Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Pom Klementieff (Mantis) and Paul Bettany (Vision). Game of Thrones veteran Peter Dinklage is also in talks for a key role.
Avengers: Infinity War is set to hit theaters on May 4, 2018.
