Ben Affleck Still Wants to Do a Solo Batman Movie

Lately Warner Brothers has hit a rough patch when it comes to their superhero films. While movies based on the DC superheroes do well financially, most of them, with the exception of Wonder Woman, have not been met with critical success.

However, according to sources over at Hollywood Life, actor Ben Affleck is still interested in starring in solo Batman film. Affleck himself has hit a rough patch of his own. Back in August, TMZ reported that at the insistence of his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, Affleck checked himself into rehab for alcoholism. Now, he is starting to get back into shape in the hopes that he may once again take up Batman’s cape and cowl. While this news may be here-say from “sources close to the actor,” Affleck has always been vocal about his desire to keep his Batman alive, despite dealing with his personal issues for the past couple years.

Back in September, it was confirmed that a completed first draft of the film’s script went to the studio, keeping fan hope alive. With Affleck’s recent bulking up, that reality seems to be coming closer.

Considering all the buzz surrounding Joaquin Phoenix‘s new take on the Joker and if Affleck is as dedicated to getting made ‘Batfleck’ as Ryan Reynolds was for Deadpool, then a new standalone Batman movie might still be possible.
