‘Beetlejuice 2’ Is Dead…. or IS it?

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice!!! Back in the late 1980’s Tim Burton directed a movie starring actor Micheal Keaton as a mysterious entity wearing an iconic suit, called Batman. But before that, Tim Burton directed a movie starring actor Micheal Keaton as a mysterious entity wearing an iconic suit called Beetlejuice.

Beetlejuice told the story of the Maitlands, a young couple played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis who die but come back as a ghosts and discover that their beloved home is now infested by annoying 80’s rich yuppies and their goth daughter, played by Winona Ryder. The Maitlands are forced to hire a “bio-exorcist” ghost named Beetlejuice, played by Keaton of course, to scare the yuppies out of their house.

When Beetlejuice came out the movie was a huge success, even launching a spinoff animated series and a recent musical. Its success also got studios and executives to discuss the possibility of a Beetlejuice sequel. For years the idea of a sequel titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian floated around Hollywood, and for awhile it looked like it would be made. But, due to scheduling conflicts and other production issues, this movie never came to be. Comic Book Resources has details on the whole story about Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian.

However it was recently reported that Beetlejuice 2 may not be completely dead. Keaton has mentioned that he is still interested in starring in a Beetlejuice sequel, and musical composer Danny Elfman has stated that a Beetlejuice 2 is still possible. Keep in mind, however that getting a Beetlejuice sequel is pretty unlikely. If the movie does get made, Beetlejuice probably won’t be going Hawaiian as originally intended, but it is still possible that we could see Beetlejuice 2 either in this life or the afterlife.
