Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, has boarded the early development of Beetlejuice 2 at Warner Bros. Deadline confirmed that the project has been in the works for a long time and hopes to shed new life on the film. The sequel is still in its early stages, and the script has yet to be written. No other attachments have been confirmed.
In its original film, Beetlejuice is a classic from director Tim Burton, in which the spirits of a deceased couple are harassed by an insufferable family that has moved into their home, hiring a malicious spirit of the same name to drive them out.
In the original film, Michael Keaton played the title role with Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara, and Winona Ryder in the supporting cast. The film was adapted from a story by Michael McDowell and Larry Wilson, which grossed nearly $75 million worldwide during its 1988 release. It won an Oscar for Best Makeup and scored two BAFTA awards nominations.
