‘Barbarian’ Slaughters After Sleepy Post-Labor Day Week

It’s officially Spooky Season! The first big scares have hit North American theaters with 20th Century Studios’ Barbarian. The horror opened at $10M domestically, leaving large margin between the rest of this weekend’s top ten. Read mxdwn’s review of Barbarian here!

Brahmastra Part One: Shiva from Walt Disney Studios held the number 2 position. The Indian adventure flic is about a man who sets out in search of love and meaning, and in the process, faces many evils. The film saw success in India, earning $18.9M its opening weekend.

Bullet Train fell 43.8% from last weekend’s Labor Day and Cinema Day bump, earning $3.3M domestically and pushes the film to $92.5M in North America.

Bullet Train was not the only film to fall from last week’s success, Top Gun: MaverickDC League of Super-Pets, and The Invitation all fell 47.3%, 43.7%, 46.3%  respectively. The Spider-Man: No Way Home re-release was hit hardest, falling 75.9% from last weekend’s earning, getting $1.3M this weekend.

Fathom’s first ever seven-day premiere run Lifemark, is the true story of a young man’s journey setting out to meet his birth parents. The faith-based film opened at no. 7, grossing $2.6M and ran in 1,500 theaters.
