Baltasar Kormákur in Talks to Direct ‘Cascade’

2 Guns director Baltasar Kormákur is currently in talks to direct the new disaster film Cascade. The film is loosely based on a 2003 British mockumentary about a global catastrophe that’s triggered by an oil tanker collision in the Middle East.

Kormákur recently finished filming the Jake Gyllenhaall and Kiera Knightly adventure film Everest, which should help make ‘Cascade’ a smooth transition for the Icelandic director. Cate Blanchett has been rumored to star in Cascade but nothing official has been released in terms of casting. The film is being produced by Ridley Scott and Steven Zaillian. Scott’s expertise in large scale action films like the upcoming Exodus: Gods and Kings and Zaillian’s experience working on more human stories including Schindler’s List gives us a good idea as to the film’s tone.

No official release date has been announced, but stay tuned for news as it develops.
