Apparently, celebrity crowdfunding is the new thing, and Nick Carter is no exception to the trend.
Via the fundraising website Indiegogo, Nick Carter has launched a fundraising campaign for his horror flick, Evil Blessings, which he co-wrote and will produce and star in. Other producers already involved in the project include Rob Carliner (Crazy Heart); set to direct the film are veteran production designer Sxv’Leithan Essex and cinematographer Shian Storm.
Carter said on his Indiegogo page that he is “a HUGE horror fan as well [as passionate about music]” and he is “about to start down the path of my other dream: to become a film producer and screenwriter.” Although the former pop sensation has set a goal of $85,000, he encourages people to donate more, saying “the more we get, the better we can make it”. Carter also notes that he will be matching a portion of the funds himself.
In Carter’s proposal video, he outlines the movie as “a classic horror story about three friends who go up into the mountains to hunt, but soon discover that they are the ones being hunted by an ancient family of evil.”
Perk packages for donors include “A Special Thank You Credit” and “Poster, Film Download, and Credit”, depending on how much you want to spend.
The film’s plot seems a bit played out, but perhaps with a producer on board that has created Oscar-winning movies, the film will be able to find a fresh angle in a saturated genre.
