Thirteen years its been since Avatar soared into theatres with its fantastic CGI. Over the weekend Disney D23 introduced Avatar: The way of Water in its new panel. On Saturday, James Cameron’s Avatar revealed scenes of the franchise’s second installment. Avatar displayed its 3D CGI that once left fans breathless with amazing sceneries. It was shown at Anaheim’s Convention Center, where it was presented alongside Marvel and Lucasfilm.
The first scene showed a girl Na’vi swimming beneath water, while the other scene shows a younger Na’vi saying that they don’t want to follow in the footsteps of their father. It seems some kind of hostage scene will inspire a new kind of conflict on Pandora.
Fans were shown Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana as their characters, presumedly as the new tribal leaders. Cameron wasn’t present at D23, but he gave a virtual presentation from New Zealand, where he is finishing up the film.
Cameron said at the presentation. “It’s going great and the stuff coming in from Weta is looking spectacular. I’m super excited to be finally finishing up movie 2. I know everyone’s been waiting a long time. Hopefully, we’ll show something today and you can decide if it’s been worth it.”
Worthington also spoke and said. “The whole movie deals with protecting family. We’ve all gone through Covid and realized that love and being with family is paramount to what life is and it’s worth fighting for. We put that in the movie.”
Avatar: The Way of Water will be in theatres on Dec. 16, 2022
