THR reports that Apple Studios has acquired the rights to a yet to be titled sci-fi dramedy film involving Andy Samberg, Ben Stiller, and Noah Hawley, as well as Andy Siara, who wrote the screenplay for the popular Palm Springs. BoJack Horseman producer and writer Raphael Bob-Waksberg came up with the concept for the untitled film. There are hardly any details for the project, but the talent involved is quite exciting.
Siara will be an executive produce and pen the script, while Samberg will star and produce. Hawley and Stiller are also onboard as producers. Lots of producing being done in the early point of this project. The producers onboard have yet to find a director, but odds are they will definitely produce a director in the coming months.
Palm Springs was a huge success in the industry during a pretty terrible year. However, it is clear that the industry has liked what Siara and Samberg were able to accomplish and are trying to replicate the success. Sci-fi-dramedies are few and far between, but less than a year after their last one, Siara and Samberg are getting to make another one.
There is still a lot to be known about this film, but as of now the producing team is quite a strong one with success from production to writing. There is no set production or release date as of now.
