Another ‘G.I. Joe’ Movie Is Already Being Planned

With Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins scheduled to come out this year, fans of the G.I. Joe franchise are wondering if the series will go anywhere after the film’s release. Well, wonder no more: Paramount has confirmed that there will be another G.I. Joe movie.

The name of this movie has not yet been revealed, but what we do know is that Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, the writing team behind Seberg, have been hired to pen the script. The producer will be Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who previously produced the previous live-action G.I. Joe films. The plan is for Henry Golding to reprise his role as Snake Eyes after the upcoming film, a role previously played by Ray Park in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Retaliation.

Other than Golding, nothing else is known about the cast. There has been no news about a potential director either, although it could possibly be Snake Eyes director Robert Schwentke.

While Shrapnel and Waterhouse’s movie is a follow-up to Snake Eyes, rumors about other G.I. Joe movies have been floating around in the past few years: back in 2013, reports surfaced about a movie called G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant intended to be directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians), but production was put on pause. Another film featuring the character of Philip “Chuckles” Provost was also a hopeful prospect, but this film too, was put on hold.

Catherine Krueger: Catherine, or "Ren" as she is called by her friends, is 23 years old and has recently graduated from Sam Houston State University, earning a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Film and TV Production. She hopes to one day direct and produce her own films. In her spare time she writes scripts and shoots videos for her YouTube channel.
