Annecy Film Festival Closes With ‘Rio 2096’

On Saturday, the yearly Annency International Film Festival closed after giving out the award for Best Feature to Rio 2096: A Story of Love and Fury, directed and written by Luiz Bolognesi. Competing against Bolognesi were 236 other films,including Ma maman est en Amérique, elle a rencontré Buffalo Bill, which won the Special Distinction in the Best Feature category.

Rio 2096, produced in 2012 in Brazil, is narrated by a main character who has been alive for more than six centuries; he narrates the events in the movie which take place during four different time periods of Brazil’s past, constantly searching for his true love.

Other winners at the festival include Canadian Subconscious Password, directed by Chris Landreth (Ryan). A full list of festival winners can be found here.
