In an exclusive with The Hollywood Reporter, director Anne Welles revealed that she is currently working on an indie horror thriller, Hannah Goes to Hell. The film will begin filming throughout Los Angeles in late December. Currently, the cast is led by Krsy Fox and Adrienne Barbeau, with Aaron Abrams leading the ensemble cast. Welles is known for the horror comedy An Accidental Zombie Named Ted. Hannah Goes to Hell will be produced by both Welles and Fox through their company SlackJaw Film, which often works to produce films that are female-led and focus on dark, female-driven genre stories.

Other cast members include Elle Riot Fox, Daniel Roebuck, Kevin Keppy, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Yoson An, and Nelson Leis. The film is also written by Welles and Fox. While some plot details remain under wraps, the general narrative centers around Hannah (Fox) and her daughter Louise (Elle Riot Fox) as they return to Hannah’s childhood home to help her sick mother (Barbeau). When they start to encounter strange things such as odd townspeople and a nightly supernatural visitor, Hannah begins to suspect a disturbing secret intertwined with their family’s funeral home, leading back to her late grandfather (Roebuck).

Fox exclaimed, “I’m so proud of this script and to be working with a cast that I find incredibly inspiring and careers I greatly admire.” She added, “Anne is going to bring some fantastic and terrifying visuals, and Andy Patch… is the perfect cinematographer to capture this beautifully dark and brutal story.” Fox also highlighted that this will be the first time collaborating with her real-life daughter, Elle Riot Fox, calling the story “so scary and surprising, we truly can’t wait to share it.”

The film’s executive producers include Tyler Connolly and Barbeau. Welles’ award-winning An Accidental Zombie Named Ted was a big hit among the indie community; she is also a director and an Emmy-nominated producer. Fox is a Canadian actress and filmmaker, best known for her role in the horror film Terrifier 3. Barbeau is known for cult classics like The Fog and Creepshow. Abrams has had roles in TV series such as Hannibal and the 2020 Netflix film The Lovebirds.

Although no release date has been announced, Hannah Goes to Hell is expected to deliver a dark, intense horror experience with a strong focus on female-driven storytelling within the genre.
