On Tuesday, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation announced that Ariana Grande and Josh Gad will lend their voices as the leads in the animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go!. The announcement was made through an Instagram post, which features two images of binders with Ariana Grande and Josh Gad’s names printed on the iconic cover art of the Dr. Seuss book, alongside an image of Grande and Gad holding their respective binders over their faces. The post’s caption also mentions that the film will feature original songs by songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Oscar and Tony-winning duo behind the songs for La La Land, The Greatest Showman, and Dear Evan Hansen.
Oh, The Places You’ll Go! will be co-directed by Jill Culton and Wicked director Jon M. Chu. John Liener wrote the script. The film is a collaboration between Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, Dr. Seuss Enterprises, and Bad Robot. JJ Abrams and Gregg Taylor are producing through Bad Robot Productions.
Not much is known about the film’s plot, except that it is set to be an expanded adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s iconic picture book, the last book he published before his death in 1991. That book featured a young protagonist navigating various wild locales, meant to represent the highs and lows of life, with the narrator providing various inspirational messages to the reader throughout.
The film is set to be released on March 17, 2028, in standard and IMAX theaters.
