Andy Muschietti In Talks To Tackle DC Movie ‘Flash’

Andy Mushietti, director of the 2017 Stephen King It reboot and the upcoming sequel It: Chapter Two, is in talk to direct the DC Flash movie, according to Hollywood Reporter. Muschietti’s sister Barbara Muschietti and his partner Michael Disco will produce the project. Although John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who drafted the film’s script, have moved on from the project, Ezra Miller remains on board to star as the Scarlet Speedster.

However, Warner Bros. won’t be moving forward with the script Miller co-wrote with comic author Grant Morrison. The studio has decided to hire Christina Hudson, who wrote Bumblebee and the upcoming DC movie Birds of Prey, to handle the screenplay. Warner Bros. hopes to have the film in production by January at the latest.

Goldstein and Daley’s exit was cited as voluntarily by multiple sources. Both writers had worked on the project since January 2018, including its script. The project was supposed to start in late 2019, but creative tonal differences bogged down production and ultimately resulted in the writers choosing to leave.

Muschietti made his feature debut with 2013’s Mama and, should he be hired, will become the latest horror filmmaker to direct a DC movie. This horror director lineup includes James Wan (The Conjuring, Aquaman), David Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation, Lights Out; Shazam!) and Jaume Collet-Serra (House of Wax, Orphan), who will be directing the upcoming Black Adam.

Shauneida Jackson: I am a new intern writer for Mxdwn and I am very excited to start. I have been in the entertainment industry for over 10 years, I recently graduated with a B.S in digital filmmaking. I consider myself a great writer, I would like to work my way up to being a director/ producer.
