American Assassin looks to be the next intense action thriller, and the trailer clearly shows just how action-packed the film will be:
American Assassin focuses on the story of Mitch Rapp, a young man who loses a significant other in a terrorist attack. Rapp decides to join the CIA Black Ops and ends up working on a case with his Cold War veteran mentor, the CIA deputy director, and eventually a Turkish agent to stop a mysterious operative who plans on starting a war in the Middle East.
Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner, Teen Wolf) plays Mitch Rapp alongside Michael Keaton (Birdman, Spider-Man: Homecoming), Scott Adkins (Doctor Strange, The Expendables 2), Taylor Kitsch (John Carter, Lone Survivor), Sanaa Lathan (Now You See Me 2, Alien vs. Predator), and David Suchet (A Perfect Murder, Flushed Away).
The film is being directed by Michael Cuesta (Kill the Messenger, Roadie), with a screenplay by Stephen Schiff, Michael Finch, Edward Zwick, and Marshall Herskovitz. The film is based on the best selling book series by the late Vince Flynn, with the original plan for the books to be a series of films beginning with Consent to Kill, but after a variety of director and writer changes, American Assassin was chosen. The film will be in theaters September 15th.
