American movie chain AMC is partnering with Zoom. Recently, AMC revealed that with the help of Zoom, they will be creating a “home theatre” to allow people to video chat and watch movies all from the comfort of their homes.
After COVID-19 struck, AMC has been struggling to recover from evading bankruptcy to embracing their status as a meme stock last year. The movie theatre company will now have 17 different locales across the United States that will work with Zoom to bring this idea to life.
People won’t need a movie ticket to enter the Zoom Rooms. Instead they will be able to book a room online through their desired theatre by selecting a time that works for them. Additionally, AMC and Zoom will allow them to receive a three-hour time limit to host their event virtually across various vendors at their preferred location. The necessary hardware for a fully effective Zoom Rooms experience will be provided by AMC and Zoom. Supposedly, auditorium sizes are anticipated to range between 75 and 150 seats. The cost of the space is not yet known.
CEO of AMC Adam Aron comments to Variety :
“One of the lessons learned during the pandemic when so many of us were forced to work remotely was the importance of a reliable, dynamic communications platform,” Aron said in a statement. “We also learned that even though we may be spread far apart, the ability to come together in person is as important as ever. That is why I’m so excited about this AMC partnership with Zoom. So many of us know how vital Zoom is in managing our enterprises. Now through this partnership of Zoom and AMC, we have the best of both worlds — the spectacular communications platform of Zoom combined with the comfort, size, scale and state-of-the-art sight and sound capabilities of AMC’s centrally located theatres. This creates an all-new product in major cities across the U.S. for companies and meeting planners.”
AMC is expected to release this partnership beginning in 2023.
