Amazon MGM Studios has released the official debut trailer for Ali G: Who Iz I?, marking the return of Sacha Baron Cohen’s iconic satirical suburban character in a new mockumentary-style feature film. The project also marks Baron Cohen’s debut as a feature film director. The film revives the Staines-based faux-journalist more than two decades after his first theatrical outing, 2002’s scripted comedy Ali G Indahouse. In the newly revealed storyline, Ali G discovers that his longtime partner, Juli, played by British comedian Morgana Robinson, is eight months pregnant.
Faced with impending parenthood and financial pressure, Ali G travels across the United States to film a documentary, conducting unscripted interviews with unsuspecting public figures, academics, and regular citizens in a format reminiscent of Borat and Brüno. The trailer showcases Ali G participating in unscripted interactions across public events, college classrooms, and talk shows, featuring pranks on public figures including retired US Army Brigadier General Stewart Rodeheaver.
The production was filmed covertly over the past year, with sightings of Baron Cohen in full character at events such as the Wimbledon Championships in July 2026 generating initial speculation about the project. Baron Cohen initially introduced the Ali G character in 1998 on Channel 4’s The 11 O’clock Show before headlining the critically acclaimed series Da Ali G Show across the UK and the US on HBO. The series subsequently spawned Baron Cohen’s Oscar-nominated feature hits Borat (2006) and its 2020 sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, alongside 2009’s Brüno.
Produced by Baron Cohen’s Four By Two Films in association with Working Title Films, Ali G: Who Iz I? is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on October 23, 2026, distributed worldwide by Amazon MGM Studios. View the full trailer below:
