A second official trailer has dropped for Project Hail Mary, the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios sci-fi adaptation of Andy Weir’s bestselling novel. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film stars Ryan Gosling (Blade Runner 2049) as Ryland Grace and Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall) as Eva Stratt.
The trailer begins with a haunting version of Oasis’ Champagne Supernova playing in the background. Grace is approached at work by the head of the Hail Mary project, Eva Stratt. “I need you to come with us. The sun is dying… If we do nothing, everything on this planet will go extinct including us,” she says.
Grace is launched into outer space where he meets a “genius engineer,” the alien he names Rocky. Rocky’s planet is dying too. As the two forge a friendship in space, they are shown in a series of quick shots collaborating to save their worlds.
“The world is counting on you,” Stratt tells him.
Drew Goddard, who penned The Martian, adapted the screenplay from Andy Weir’s New York Times best-selling novel of the same name. Weir was also behind the best-selling novel, The Martian, which was adapted into the film starring Matt Damon.
Project Hail Mary has an exclusive theatrical and IMAX release date of March 20, 2026.
