Tarzan is getting a 21st century makeover courtesy of Harry Potter veteran filmmaker Peter Yates and actor Alexander Skarsgård (and Skarsgård’s abs) in the upcoming franchise starter The Legend of Tarzan. Warner Bros. released the latest (and likely final) trailer for the upcoming actioner which re-positions the venerable character, first created by Edgar Rice Burrough’s prose.
In this iteration of the story – written by Adam Cozad (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) and Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) – Tarzan returns to the jungle – after acclimating to civilized life with lady pal Jane (Margot Robbie, The Wolf of Wall Street) – to find out what’s going on back home at a mining encampment. The starry ensemble cast includes Samuel L. Jackson (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) and Oscar winners Jim Broadbent (Iris) and Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds).
Check out the final trailer below. The Legend of Tarzan hits theaters on July 1st.
