‘After Earth’ and ‘Movie 43’ Win Big At 34th Annual Razzie Awards

Tonight the Academy Awards honors the best Hollywood has to offer.  It’s a night filled with glitz and glamor that sharply contrasts last night’s 34th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards.  Founded in 1980, the Razzies honors the year’s very worst in a deliberately tacky ceremony, traditionally held one night before the Oscars.  Last night a new round of films were honored with the not-so-coveted golden spray painted raspberry statues.

Coming in to the Razzies, Grown Ups 2 was the clear favorite with nine nominations in eight categories including Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Adam Sandler), and two nominations for Worst Supporting Actor (Taylor Lautner and Nick Swardson).  Sandler proved himself a true Razzie contender in 2011, when his film Jack and Jill swept the Golden Raspberries, winning every single award.  But there was no such luck for Sandler this year.  Despite it’s nine nominations, Grown Ups 2 did not win a single award.  Instead, the pack was lead by Movie 43 and After Earth, each with three wins.
