Adam Scott Is Tormented By A Witch In First Trailer For ‘Hokum’

Neon has released the first trailer for their upcoming horror film Hokum. The film stars Adam Scott (SeveranceParks and Recreation) and is written directed by Damian Mc Carthy. Mc Carthy notably directed Oddity last year, which became a soft hit for Shudder. Hokum follows a horror author (Adam Scott) who visits a remote Irish inn in hopes of spreading the ashes of his parents in the countryside. Eventually, he realizes that the area is rumored to be haunted by a witch. The trailer does not show much footage, only a few quick jump scares and disturbing images. it is overlayed by narration that says, “Long, long ago, deep in the woods, there lived a cailleach, a witch.”

Adam Scott has recently become more popular recently through the Apple TV thriller Severance, but he has been a big name in the comedy sphere for some time. He starred in Parks and RecreationStepbrothers and Party Down. He has also had his hand in some horror previously, with KrampusPiranha 3D and The Monkey.

Besides Hokum, Neon’s list of upcoming releases consists of a lot of 2025 festival films receiving theatrical releases. No Other ChoiceNirvana the Band the Show the Movie and Alpha are all being distributed by Neon over the next few months. Hokum currently has a rough release window of May 2026, but that is subject to change.
