After much anticipation, Dune: Part Two has finally hit theater screens. Now that audiences have been able to see it, the cast and crew have been able to reveal secrets about the production, including a particular role that was cut out of the film.
Actor Tim Blake Nelson confirmed that, while talking with MovieWeb, he had a role in the new take on Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi epic.
He didn’t disclose what part he was meant to bring to life, opting instead to leave it to director Denis Villeneuve to discuss.
When talking about his role in the film, Nelson said, “I am heartbroken over that, but there’s no hard feelings. I loved it, and I can’t wait to do something else with him and we certainly plan to do that.”
Dune: Part Two continues the story of Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, as he seeks to bring down the evil House Harkonnen, and reclaim his family’s power on the planet of Arrakis.
As Independent points out, Nelson was not the only part to be cut from the final product. Director Villeneuve spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how Stephen McKinley Henderson was set to reprise his role from 2021’s Dune in the second part, but had to be trimmed out of the film. He played the Atreides’ loyal Mentat, Thufir Hawat, in the first film.
Tim Blake Nelson can be seen in The Incredible Hulk, Nightmare Alley, and Guillermo Del Toro’s retelling of Pinocchio.
