2022 saw Doctor Strange appear in his second headline film, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Coming hot off the heels of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Stephen Strange finds himself going up against the Scarlet Witch, and jumping across multiverses, in hopes of keeping the fabric of his own from collapsing.
With the multiverse concept came multiple cameos through the film. From Patrick Stewart’s return as Professor X, to a version of Mr. Fantastic played by John Krasinski, one of these cameos included the return of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star Anson Mount as Black Bolt.
Originally, he played the king of the Inhumans in ABC’s Inhumans. Upon returning to the fold in 2022, he was one of Earth-838’s Illuminati, a collection of powerful heroes who came together to judge the actions of Doctor Strange. When asked if Mount would make a return as Blackagar Boltagon, the answer may leave fans disappointed, ComicBook.com reports.
In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Mount said, “if the answer was yes I wouldn’t be able to tell you — but the answer is no, so I can. I’ve had some informal conversations with the powers [at] Marvel and it’s a conversation, but they’ve got their current phase that they need to do.”
“I don’t know, we’ll see. I would love to jump back into the cowl and do it again. I love Black Bolt as a character.”
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is available to stream on Disney+.
