A24 has committed to working with Theater Camp‘s Molly Gordon on her newest film, Peaked. The Bear actress will direct and act in the film she co-wrote with Allie Levitan. Levitan was recently hired as a Saturday Night Live writer and is the daughter of Modern Family creator Steven Levitan. The film is said to be about “the two girls who traumatized you in high school as they try to relive their glory days at their 10-year reunion.”
Prior to co-writing, co-directing, and starring in the mockumentary Theater Camp, Gordon acted in critically acclaimed independent films Shiva Baby and Booksmart. Most recently, she starred in the Sundance film Oh, Hi! directed by Sophie Brooks. Gordon received a story credit in the film “about two people who should not be together.” Logan Lerman co-stars, and Geraldine Viswanathan and John Reynolds are part of the supporting cast.
David Hinojosa and Zach Nutman of Past Lives, Babygirl, and Bodies Bodies Bodies will co-produce Peaked under the 2AM banner. Topic Studios will co-finance.
Gordon has a lot on the go as she is working on another project with Levitan. Their Searchlight film Small Parts does not have a release date yet but production began in May 2024. Gordon will also appear in upcoming season four of The Bear.
