A new script for an erotic thriller TV series made waves in the industry recently, sparking a fierce bidding war for the rights. The script was penned by Dylan Brady, a young British actor with small roles on Andor and Ralph & Katie. In the end, the script landed at A24, with Nicole Kidman currently in talks to star.
The script was titled Discretion, however, the name will likely change to avoid confusion with the upcoming legal drama of the same name for Paramount+. Coincidentally, I the series will be produced by A24 and stars Nicole Kidman, as well as Elle Fanning.
The script was listed at number two on 2025’s The Brit List, a compilation of up-for-grabs scripts that is equivalent to Hollywood’s The Black List. The story follows a down-on-his-luck actor that begins working as a nanny for a wealthy producer and actor couple. This is done with the intent of leeching off their influence to move up in the industry, but quickly finds himself entwined in a dangerous game stuck between the couple. Brady revealed that the inspiration for this story came from a real-life friend who got mixed up in the life of a prolific couple after taking a job at their home. Brady gave some insight into his vision from the story:
Erotic thrillers have historically always been very heterosexual, and it’s the marital unit that is the hero that has to be preserved at all costs from an evil slut, who threatens that unity. I thought about what this looks like in 2025. What if the slut is the hero and there is something rotten in the marriage? I wanted to break form and put a queer lens on it.
Nicole Kidman is in talks to star in the series, with other A-list talent reportedly being eyed to star alongside her. While A24 ended up winning over Brady with a 7-figure deal, many other large companies including Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Peacock and FX were all interested and made bids for the series. It is now locked at A24 with Dylan Brady attached, but production has yet to begin.
