A24 Acquires Jonah Hill-Headlined ‘Uncut Gems’

According to Deadline, A24 has acquired worldwide rights to Uncut Gems, starring twice-Oscar nominated actor Jonah Hill (War Dogs). The drama is directed by brothers Josh and Benny Safdie, who will premiere their film Good Time, starring Robert Pattinson, in competition at Cannes. A24 has also has distribution rights to Good Time and will be releasing it in the U.S. this summer.

Scott Rudin and Eli Bush of Scott Rudin Productions are producing along with Sebastian Bear-McClard and Oscar Boyson of Elara Pictures. Martin Scorcese and Emma Tillinger Koskoff are executive producing.

The original screenplay was penned by Ronald Bronstein and the Safdie brothers. The film is set in the Diamond District of NYC and revolves around a central character named Howard Ratner (Hill) and his unscrupulous dealings.

Uncut Gems is currently in pre-production.

Karen Earnest: A psychologist by profession, Karen was an early fan of movie musicals, sci-fi films, and black and white classics. She lives in Los Angeles County, where "the sun shines bright, the beaches are wide and inviting, and the orange groves (used to) stretch as far as the eye can see" (quoting Sid in L.A. Confidential)
