Jessica Chastain to Play Hollywood Legend Ingrid Bergman in Upcoming Biopic

In one of the more enticing projects in development at the moment, it appears that Jessica Chastain will headline the forthcoming Seducing Ingrid Bergman. In the feature, Chastain will portray Hollywood legend Ingrid Bergman and the movie chronicles the torrid affair between the actress and war photographer Robert Capa. Chastain’s Freckle Films, along with YRF Entertainment, will produce the project. Deadline was the first to report this story.

The film will based on Chris Greenhalgh’s 2012 novel and centers on the romance between Bergman and Capa, who relationship began in Paris shortly after World War II came to a close. They later moved to Hollywood. Bergman was a 3-time Oscar winning film legend whose many classic performances include such iconic portrayals as Ilsa in Casablanca, Alicia Huberman in Alfred Hitchcock’s Notorious and Paula in Gaslight. Arash Amel will write the screenplay; Amel’s previously penned Grace of Monaco, a bio of Hollywood beauty Grace Kelly, which starred Nicole Kidman.

As of now, no actor has been announced to portray Capa. Neither has a director been brought aboard.

Chastain is currently a member of the jury for the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, where she is one of the coveted few who will help bestow the prestigious Palme d’Or to one of the films playing in competition. Later this year, the 2-time Oscar nominated actress will headline the bio Woman Walks Ahead as well as Molly’s Game, film written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. Earlier this year, she was seen on screens in the Holocaust drama The Zookeeper’s Wife. She received a Golden Globe nomination last year for her performance in the political thriller Miss Sloane.

We will stay tuned to the latest on Seducing Ingrid Bergman.
