Surprise! Ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl LIV, a new game day spot for the upcoming horror film A Quiet Place Part II has hit the internet. Be aware of spoilers for 2018’s A Quiet Place ahead.
The trailer release comes with a pretty big reveal: the return of John Krasinski’s character, patriarch Lee Abbott, who sacrificed himself to the noise-sensitive mutant monsters in the first film to protect his wife Evelyn (Krasinski’s real-life spouse Emily Blunt), and three children, Regan (Millicent Simmonds), Marcus (Noah Jupe), and infant baby Abbott. The trailer shows Krasinski as Lee in flashbacks to when the monsters first wrecked havoc.
The 30-second spot begins in flashback with Lee approaching a police officer as Regan watches from the car. Before he knows it, he’s running for his life after the first of the blind mutant monsters attacks a storefront. The rest of the quick spot features some incredibly tense moments in the present, including the Abbott family attempting to find other survivors in hiding, and a particularly nail-biting scene in which Regan finds herself trapped in a train car with one of the monsters and no way to escape.
Paramount additionally released a behind the scenes featurette, showing Krasinski with his director’s hat on in the two minute clip.
A Quiet Place Part II hits theaters March 20.
