The sequel to Jon Krasinski’s breakout horror film, A Quiet Place Part II, has been delayed yet again following release date shift by Paramount Pictures. The film will now reach theaters September 17, 2021. A Quiet Place Part II will follow the Abbott family as they continue to face the terrors of the outside world. Now, being forced to venture into unknown territory, they’ll find that the creatures hunting by sound are not the only threats that endanger their chances of survival.
The film was originally supposed to release March 20, 2020, but because of the pandemic, it was pushed all the way to April 2021. Now that the date is getting closer and many theaters are still closed, the studio has decided to delay the sequel again. There was some speculation that it might release on the ViacomCBS streaming service, but it appears that Paramount is doing everything they can to ensure a theatrical release where audiences won’t have to worry about risking their health.
The first Quiet Place film was a smash-hit in 2018, making more than $340 million worldwide with $188 million of that coming from the US. Audience raved about the gripping theatrical experience, so it makes sense that Paramount is pushing for the film to release when theaters open back up.
The sequel’s new release date will put the movie up against films like Death on the Nile, The Boss Baby: Family Business and The Man from Toronto.
