Adam Sandler and Co. might be hitting the golf course again on the big screen, as it has been revealed that a script of Happy Gilmore 2 has been drafted.
Reported by Variety, Christopher McDonald, who played villain Shooter McGavin in the original film, said that Sandler himself showed him the script two weeks ago.
While it is still in development stages and nothing has been confirmed by Sandler’s production company Happy Madison, McDonald says that it would be awesome to see this film come to fruition. “Fans demand it, dammit,” McDonald joked during the interview.
No details of the script were released during the interview, but with this information, one can try to imagine what a new Happy Gilmore film might look like in this decade, especially since it has been 28 years since the original film was released.
The news comes almost two months after the death of Carl Weathers, who played Chubbs, a former professional golfer and mentor to Sandler’s Happy Gilmore. Weathers died at the age of 76.
It might be a while until an official confirmation is given as to whether or not the film is going to be made. But for fans of Sandler’s, this news is something to look forward to.
