20th Century Studios will begin production on Kingdom of The Planet of the Apes. The movie will star Owen Teague as “it,” Freya Allen as “The Witcher” and Peter Macon as “The Orville” under the direction of Wes Ball of The Maze Runner Trilogy. The film will start a whole new chapter in the Planet of the Apes series, which will pick up years after the conclusion of the last released War for the Planet of the Apes (2017).
Planet of the Apes is one of 20th Century Studios’ most popular and successful franchises, grossing over 1.7 Billion dollars worldwide. The series is based on a novel by Pierre Boulle. The first film was released in 1968 and was followed by 8 other popular movies.
The screenplay is written by is by Josh Friedman of War of the Worlds, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Patrick Aison of Prey. The film’s producers will include, Joe Hartwick Jr. of The Maze Runner trilogy, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Jason Reed of Mulan, and Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping as executive producers.
