Danai Gurira discusses honoring Chadwick Boseman and praises Angela Bassett for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Catherine Martin, nominated for best costume design, discusses how she found a 50’s look for Elvis. She wanted to show how he was a punk, and a rebel who was challenging the 50’s norms.

Ke Huy Quan talked about how his family flew from Huston and “it was so wonderful to share this day” with them. He met The Rock and got a selfie with him. He hopes to get a selfie with Nicole Kidman.

Angela Bassett talks about being the first Marvel star to ever be nominated for actress in a supporting role and the strengths of her character Queen Ramonda in Black Panther. In the fitting room, she felt that sense of royalty.

Jennifer Connely, Top Gun: Maverick star, talks about learning how to sail for the movie. She took several sailing lessons.

Michelle Yeoh, nominated for the very first time, stands at the red carpet in an angelic white dress. She talks about feeling at peace. She was drawn to her character in Everything Everywhere All At Once because “all our mothers” are overlooked and the story was the perfect way to show moms are superheroes. “We’re the everything bagel. We are a full circle committed… We are family,” Yeoh said in reference to her cast and crew.

Austin Butler talks being able to keep one of the Elvis outfits which is now in a box. When asked what his favorite Elvis song was, he claimed it was impossible to choose because it would be like choosing a favorite kid he said.

Kimmell wows the audience by arriving to the stage by parachute as the Top Gun score plays! He jokes that Nicole Kidman has finally been released from her ad as she sits front center.

Kimmell asks if Seth Rogen is on mushrooms. He jokes that Steven Spielberg was high when he wrote ET. He jokes that Batgirl became the first superhero to be defeated by an accounting department, in reference to the film being axed.

Kimmell jokes that Tom Cruise and James Cameron, the two people who encouraged people to go back to the movie theaters, are not in attendance to the Oscars tonight.

Jimmy Kimmell is danced off stage by a group of dancer’s mid speech and is replaced by The Rock and Emily Blunt to announce best animated feature. Nominees: Pinocchio, The Sea BeastMarcel The Shell With Shoes OnPuss In Boots: The Last Wish, and Turning Red.

The award goes to Guillermo Tell Toro’s Pinocchio! He says animation is cinema and is ready to be moved to the next step. He thanks Netflix for making the movie possible. He dedicates the award to his wife, kids, and his late parents.

The Oscar goes to Ke Huy Quan for his amazing performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once!

Quan holds his trophy up to his mom who is watching at home, “Mom, I just won an Oscar!” He talked about his journey, being in a refugee camp, and ending up on Hollywood’s stage. “This is the American Dream.”

Jamie Lee Curtis wins the Oscar for Everywhere All At Once. She says despite standing up by herself, she is hundreds of people. She brings up the crew and everyone who made the movie, saying that they too won an Oscar.

Riz Ahmed and Amir Questlove Thompson prepare to announce the Oscar for Best Documentary. Nominees: All That Breathes, All The Beauty And The Bloodshed, Fire Of Love, A House Made Of Splinters, and Navalny.

The Oscar goes to Navalny with Daniel Roher, Odessa Rae, Diane Becker, Melanie Miller, and Shane Boris. Alexei Navalny, the leader of the Russian opposition is in jail, but his wife is here. She dreams of the day both he and their country will be free.

Ahmed and Thompson announce An Irish Goodbye for the winner for Short Film (Live Action). Everyone in the audience sings happy birthday for James.

Melissa McCarthy and Halle Bailey reveal a brand-new trailer to the upcoming Little Mermaid live action movie. It is set to come out May 26th. It gives a full look to Bailey’s Ariel and McCarthy’s Ursula. Bailey shows off her musical talent in “Part Of Your World.”

Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors arrive to stage to announce the Cinematography award. Nominees: All Quiet on the Western Front, Bardo, False Chronicle Of A Handful Of Truths, ElvisEmpire of Light, and Tar.

The Oscar goes for Cinematography goes to All Quiet on the Western Front. James Friend jokes it’s not his birthday but it feels like it is. He thanks the entire crew, his parents who encouraged his path in the film industry, wife, family, and director Edward Berger.

Son Lux, Stephanie Hsu, and David Byrne are welcomed to stage to sing for Everything Everywhere All At Once. Bryne sings with hotdog fingers and imagery from the movie behind.

Jennifer Connely and Samuel L. Jackson arrive to stage to announce the Oscar for “Makeup and Hairstyling.” Nominees: All Quiet On The Western FrontThe BatmanBlack Panther: Wakanda ForeverElvis, and The Whale.

The Oscar for Makeup and Hairstyling goes to The Whale with Adrien Morot, Judy Chin, and Annemarie Bradley. They are cut off with music before Chin can even get a word in their speech. Something tells me makeup is not as valued as other awards.

Morgan Freeman and Margot Robbie arrive to stage and talk about Warner Bros and showcase a video of 100 years of its history.

The award for Costume Design is about to be announced. Nominees: Bablyon, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, ElvisEverything Everywhere All At Onceand Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris.

Ruth Carter wins the Oscar for Costume Design in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She thanks the academy for recognizing “the superhero that is a Black woman.” Her mother, Mable Carter, died last week. Carter asks Boseman to take care of her. She dedicates the award to her mother who was 101.

Deepika Padukone arrives to stage. Naatu Naatu is performed with dancers in suspenders and terrific singers.

The Oscar for Best International Film goes to All Quiet on the Western Front. Edward Berger joins the stage alongside the actors of the film. He thanks his family, crew, and especially actor Felix.

The Oscar for Documentary Short Film goes to The Elephant Whisperers with Kartiki Gonslaves and Guneet Monga. Gonslaves thanks Netflix and producer Monga. Monga was seemingly about to give a speech before music interrupted. I guess the producers agree with Kimmel.

The Oscar for Actress In A Leading Role goes to Michelle Yeoh for Everything Everywhere All At Once! “This is a beacon of hope and possibilities,” Yeoh said. She dedicates the award to her mom, all the moms in the world, because they are “really the superheroes” and without them none of us would be here. Her mom is 84 and she’s going to take it to her where she is in Malaysia.
