2016 Telluride Film Festival Line-Up

The line-up has been announced for the 2016 Telluride Film Festival, this year celebrating their 43rd year. Presented by the National Film Festival, the Telluride Film Festival is an annual Colorado tradition showcasing some of the finest works of cinema of the year. As per usual, the line-up was unveiled one day before festivities kick-off. Interestingly, the festival has also built up an immense Oscar season reputation over the years – the last five eventual Best Picture winners all played Telluride, for example.

This year’s line-up looks particularly enticing for its blend of seemingly more populist, commercial fare (Clint Eastwood’s Sully), expectant awards magnets (Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea – already hit at Sundance earlier this year), respected titles that premiered at Cannes (Maren Arde’s Toni Erdmann, Cristian Mungiu’s Graduation), prime upcoming independent features (Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight, Robin Swicord’s Wakefield) and hopeful surprises (Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival, Ben Younger’s Bleed For This).
