2016 MTV Movie Award Winners

The MTV Movie Awards are celebrating their silver anniversary this year. While the event itself will not be televised until tomorrow night, the ceremony took place this evening on the Warner Bros. lot. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, soon to be seen on screen in the action comedy Central Intelligence, hosted the show which presented special awards to the likes of Will Smith (accepting the MTV Generation Award) and Melissa McCarthy (who earned the Comedic Genius Award). Stir clear if you want to be left in the dark on who took home the golden popcorn statues.

The winners of the 25th MTV Movie Awards included three big prizes awarded to the granddaddy of 2015 films, that would be Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but of course. DeadpoolPitch Perfect 2 and now Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio also had a good showing. Keeping the tradition alive, the MTV Movie Awards include classical categories such as Best Film and Best Actor and Actress, but turn up the fun with cheeky categories like Best Fight, Best Villain and the immortal Best Kiss; oddly, they seemingly threw away the Best Shirtless Performance, a category which was in the books for the last few years now.
