The Golden Reel Awards, the last of the guilds to announce before the 88th Academy Awards take place tomorrow night, had there say this evening and the verdict was…indecisive. Honoring the years’ best achievement in sound editing, the Golden Reels are voted on by members of the Motion Pictures Sound Editors (MPSE) guild. In the top category and the one that most closely corresponds with the Best Sound Editing mention at the Oscars, the guild couldn’t decide between Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant– both films tied. A scenario which may prove quite contentious tomorrow night as both films as running head to head in both sound categories.
