2016 Annie Award Nominations Announced; Disney’s ‘Zootopia’ Leads the Field

Nominations for the 44th Annie Awards were announced Monday. Celebrating the finest achievements in animation. With rich and diverse field to chose from this past year, the field is fairly competitive – as the case will likely be for the five films selected in the Best Animated Feature category at next year’s Academy Awards. It was Disney’s spring blockbuster Zootopia that narrowly headed the pack with 11 nominations, including mentions in the top category as well as acknowledgements in directing, writing, voice acting and a multitude of craft category mentions. Laika’s Kubo and the Two Strings, DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda 3, Pixar’s Finding Dory and Disney’s Moana rounded out the Best Animated Feature category.
