It is hard to believe that the beloved Fast & Furious film franchise began almost 20 years ago. The movie series has thrilled audiences with its spectacular car chase scenes and its universal themes of family. However according to Variety the movie franchise that began with the release of the first movie in 2001 will come to an end with the eleventh movie.
While the eleventh Fast & Furious movie will be the final film in the main series and put an end to the story of Vin Diesel’s character, the studio will not stop making movies based on the franchise. Universal is already working on several spin-off movies like last year’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
Director Justin Lin will be directing both the tenth and eleventh movies. Lin has a lot of experience with the Fast & Furious movies. He was the director of the third movie The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, the fourth movie Fast & Furious, the fifth movie Fast Five, and the sixth movie Fast & Furious 6.
Fans should not be too worried, because the end of the Fast & Furious is still years away. The ninth movie, which is titled F9, has not even been released yet due to COVID-19, and F9 won’t be released until Memorial Day weekend in 2021.
