In 2009 Warner Brothers released a horror movie called the Orphan which received mixed reviews from critics but was a financial success. The movie earned over $70 million at the global box office on a budget of about $20 million. Apologizes for spoiling an eleven year old movie, but the plot of Orphan is about a family who adopts a 9 year old Russian orphan girl named Esther. However it is soon revealed that Esther is actually a 33 year old woman suffering from a disorder called hypopituitarism, and Esther is also serial killer too.
Recently it was announced that Warner Brothers is planning on making a prequel to Orphan, which will be titled Esther. This prequel will focus on the origins of the titular character and explore how Esther escaped from a mental asylum in Russia. According to Screen Rant actress Isabelle Fuhrman, who played Esther in Orphan, will also be appearing in Esther, but it has not been specified if Fuhrman will be reprising her role. The actress was around eleven or twelve years old when Orphan came out and she is currently 23 years old so it is unknown if she will be return to playing Esther.
Esther is being directed by William Brent Bell, and the script was written by David Coggeshall.
