For several years the movie adaptation of the popular video game series Uncharted struggled to get off the ground. Production on the movie briefly stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it resumed earlier this summer. Now it looks like production for this movie is finally moving forward.
The movie’s star, Tom Holland, has just released a photo on is Instagram account of himself on set and wearing the costume of the series main character, Nathan Drake.
Uncharted is being directed by Ruben Fleischer. Holland is of course playing Nathan Drake, and Mark Walberg is playing Drake’s mentor Victor Sullivan. According to Screen Rant the story of the Uncharted movie is going to serve as a prequel to the video game franchise. Uncharted has been given a release date of July 16, 2021. Hopefully this will be the definitive release date and the studio won’t delay it again.
In the Uncharted games Nathan Drake was voiced by voice actor Nolan North. The character Nathan Drake is an explorer, like Lara Croft or Indiana Jones. Drake and his crew travel all over the world in order to explore hidden temples and searches for lost treasures. The series was created by the gaming studio Naughty Dog.
