Yes, you read that title right, the hotly anticipated – hotly anticipated by us at mxdwn Movies, at least – horror film about two competitive serial murderers from Indonesia (with a little help from Japan) Killers has been picked up for US distribution by Well Go USA Entertainment. According to The Wrap, a “deal was brokered by Well Go USA Entertainment president Doris Pfardrescher with XYZ Films’ [Killers’ international distributor] Nate Bolotin on behalf of the filmmakers.” Those filmmakers in question include directing duo Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboe, known collectively as the Mo Brothers. For those that haven’t been following our coverage of Killers, the film – which had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival two weeks ago – is unique not only in its premise, but the fact that it is a Japanese/Indonesian co-production featuring story, cast, and locations that span the two countries – including stars Kazuki Kitamura and Oka Antara.
But let’s not forget about Dead Snow 2. In another surprising (but not unpleasant) bit of news Well Go USA has also acquired the US distributions rights to Norwegian horror flick Dead Snow: Red vs Dead. Red vs Dead. As you may or may not recall, we’ve been eying the film for a little while; what with its international cast (Norwegian and American), its fountains of blood, and its premiere at Sundance.
No word yet on when Red vs Dead is coming to U.S. shores, but Killers is set for a fourth quarter 2014 release.
