In a move no saw coming, it has been reported that Jamie Foxx is in talks to come back as his version of Electro in the MCU. And yes, this does include specifications of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 version of the character. He will not be rewritten or reworked as far as we know, but that version of the character will square off in the next installment of Spider-Man — which is also equally confusing as he seemingly died at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
This news has quickly got Twitter up in a frenzy trying to figure out what all this could mean. Sam Raimi — director of the first Spider-Man trilogy — is directing Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Michael Keaton is expected to return as Vulture in Morbius, and now this news. Many fans and media outlets are speculating that Sony and Marvel are planning a giant cross-over event where each live-action iteration of Spider-Man will face off against the Sinister Six.
Now as it has been stated before, Jaimie Foxx is only in talks and it’s still unclear whether or not his role is even going to be a big one, but what is clear is that now we know what kind of direction Sony and Marvel are heading in. This is big news and leaves very big implications for what might be coming down the pipeline. Could we possibly see a live action Spider-Verse movie coming in the near future? There might be a very real possibility that the answer to that question is an astounding yes. I guess we’ll have to see.
The Untitled Third Spider-Man film is set to release November 2021.
