And then there was one. With Mulan expected to be delayed once again and Tenet already being delayed as a result of the uptick in coronavirus cases, there is now one major summer movie that will release in July. Unhinged is a thriller staring Oscar winner Russell Crowe, as a deranged man that stalks a mother and her child in an act of road rage.
The mid budgeted thriller has not been on a lot of people’s radars, but with the film most likely being the ‘last man’ standing, it is poised to have a weird monopoly on movie theaters that has never been seen and Russel Crowe has some interesting thoughts about it.
While there is certainly a debate to be have about the re-opening of movie theaters, Russel Crowe had very little to say about that in a virtual interview with E! News, instead musing on why people crave to go back to theaters, “What is normal? When do we return to whatever normal is going to be for us in the future? We don’t know..I think there’s a lot of people that made it really clear that they need to have some sort of feeling for their mental health that there’s going to be some kind of balance.”
It is certainly an interesting point that Crowe makes, as films and entertainment as a whole has always been an escape for the average person. Whether Unhinged is able to provide that escape in a safe manner is to be seen, but the project is set to release in theaters July 10th. Like everything in this day and age, it is a fluid situation and subject to change.
