Less than a month after its highly anticipated launch on May 27, HBO Max is already getting ready to say goodbye to a number of the DC live-action movies currently available on the streaming service. These include Wonder Woman, Justice League, Suicide Squad, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Catwoman, Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Jonah Hex and The Losers.
Providing a wide range of TV shows and movies, including blockbuster selections from DC and Warner Bros., HBO Max was advertised as the one-stop streaming service for all your viewing pleasures. Its website states: “HBO Max Has Everything You Love, All in One Place.” However, come July 1, many of the DC films will no longer be available to stream.
This news comes after director Zack Snyder announced at the end of May that his “Snyder Cut” of Justice League will be released exclusively on HBO Max in 2021. Even with those films departing, this still leaves around 21 DC titles for HBO Max members to watch, including Aquaman, Joker, Green Lantern, Shazam! and Supergirl, in addition to many animated films.
While fans might feel the need to scramble to watch these films before they disappear, HBO Max plans to rotate a selection of DC films, with a new set arriving in July and August. So, while they won’t be available for streaming come July 1, hopefully these films will be available at a later date.
