The COVID-19 pandemic is still affecting the movie industry every day. With multiple film productions put on hold for the time being, it was inevitable that even films set for 2021 releases will now be delayed, as is unfortunately the case with Warner Bros. As of now, Warner Bros shifted quite a few dates for their upcoming DC films slated to come out in the next few years, including Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
In regards to what has officially been moved, The Batman will now be releasing on October 1st 2021 as opposed to June 25th of that year. Likewise, the sequel to 2019’s hit DC film, Shazam has also been delayed from April 1st 2022 to November 4th 2022. One interesting thing to note is that the Ezra Miller-led The Flash has actually been pushed up from July 1st 2022 to June 3rd 2022, coming out about a month earlier than expected.
These new dates for the films could ultimately change, not just due to the pandemic but also because some of them are still early in production and dealing with some behind the scene troubles. This is especially the case with The Flash, which has dealt with a ton of production delays due to constant director and casting changes. Fortunately, an October release date for The Batman could fare very well for Warner Bros, not just because it would be a good fall release, but because it could match the hyped release of Joker last year. Hopefully Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson will be able to bring us a film that will be every bit worth the wait.
The Batman is set for release October 1st 2021.
